01/17/2022 (part 2) Lesley's Weekly Ka'ena Update

Another busy week went by, to wrap it up our internet has been spotty to non existent. Finally, this afternoon it's a little better.

We have had work being done all week on the permitted main road, mainly empting the puddles.
LAALs and BFALs are everywhere in the NAR. Whales are active and several HMSeals have shown up after being MIA for a while.
We even had a special visit of our dearest "Da Prez" aka the Blog Lady
In the seal world:
R330 Squinty was swimming up and down the coast every day in a different spot
RW02 PVKauai and RL74 Kami have been a constant pair also hauling out daily in different locations
RL98 Lina did a one-day visit and over night
KG54 Huaka'i did a couple of haul outs
RJ40 'E'ena has been overnighting, leaving at early hours then hauling back out in the late afternoons
We have had the tongue twister RKA2 (F) - tags KA2/KA3 she's RK30's daughter from Kauai documented here on Oahu this week for the first time. She's one small seal.
RO40 Ka'ena
is back from his end of year tour. He's looking good
and last but not least RN58 Luana looking VERY big and healthy. Hopefully after 2 sabbatical years this year she will pup again.
More soon - Be safe 🌺
