01/30/2022 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Lesley and Team R&B💕.  Lesley's weekly Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11 am to 1 pm and there was only one critter on island today.
For the first half hour there were no seals seen on the island. Then about 11:30 a seal hauled out on Lanikai side of the 1BS. She would have thought this seal to be a juvenile to subadult size, however she thinks this seal had two gray tags. The two gray tags would be KG54 Huaka'i, making this the our Kure Atoll visitor. The seal had a lighter female belly and possible upper chest scar.

Team R&B checked out one of the beaches and initially there were no seals. They did collect the signs
that had been left out. At 8:23 they saw a seal swim pass but it didn't land.
Thirty minutes later they watched Kekoa Alii RK72 haul out and goes over to the rocks. He keeps looking back at the water. They set up signs but no ropes because of the high tide.
One hour later a second seal comes in. Here comes RH32 Kaale, he greets Kekoa and both settle and snooze.

They got word another seal landed at another cove. They wondered if this could have been the seal swimming by earlier. There on shore was RL12 Aukai looking large and gorgeous. There were signs up with rope. Team R&B noticed a butterfly land by her, sweet!
They spoke with some of the folks on the beach they often see when Aukai arrived. They said it was about 8:40. They showed them a photo from when she first arrived.

Team R&B headed over to another west side location. The first seal seen was about to slide into the waterhole. There was RL70 Leina a little difficult to see as she was rolling her way into the waterhole.
The second seal up on the rocks was RW02 PvKauai. He was a lone and sound a sleep.
They went over to the other side and saw a seal foraging, it looked like little RP84.
When they returned back to the left side R3CU had hauled out and landed by RW02.
RP84 Pe'ekai was seen coming into the shallows, then going up to RW02. He looked up to RW02 as if to ask if it was okay to come up.  R3CU looks over to the little guy and doesn't react, so Pe'ekai hauled up in between the boys. Leina was still in the pond.

They made one more stop before calling it a day and they were happy they did. There they spotted a little tan seal, with tags, snoozing alone on the rocks. There were two folks fishing close by, but the seal was fine. They ID'd RP30 Puka, just chilling on his side. They could see a small mark on his right lower side, like a cookie wound in the process of healing.
