After a nice break it was long week back at work. The rains have caused a lot of damage and erosion on the roads in the permitted area of the park. I spent a lot of time hiking and assessing them. Added to that we had 2 big swells and a third one on its way as I write.
The LAAL have been doing great last count we had 73 active nests ! The highlight is the visit of several banded BFALs some all the way from Tern. The word spread that it's a cool place to be. One of them is V651 a translocated female from Midway in 2018 and hand raised at PRC. This is the first time she's back since fledging. Our theory is that she brought her friends
The whales have been more active, we have seen a couple of calves already
In the seal world the players this week were:
- RW02 PVKaui also did the same thing
- R330 Squinty showed up twice
- KG54 Huaka'i and RL98 Lina once each
Needless to say, nature loved all the rain and is putting a show for eyes with all shades of greens, colorful blooms, and delightful perfumes.
More soon - Be safe
