01/08/2022 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.

Team R&B started by receiving a text of a seal on shore. They headed out and arrived at the site to find RG28 Lefty on shore very alert. There were three signs already up letting people know to go around.  They stayed around and educated people as they arrived at the site. Everyone was really good, it was also a slow morning. Team R&B left to check other sites.

At another location they found RH32 Kaale snoozing alone high up
on shore. They stayed with him for a bit with tourist around. One couple wasn't happy when they were asked to walk around the seal. they wanted to know WHY they couldn't walk in front of the seal.  (My answer would have been because I said so) But Team R&B explained, and although they were grumbling they did walk around and took plenty pictures.

Team R&B returned to check on RG28 and now there were three. RG28 was near Aukai RL12 and ready to charge at R407 Kawika. There was a lady trying to get back to the area and was really close to R407. R407 was aware and was whooping at her. They told the lady to be careful, by making that sound the seal is letting you know he's agitated, and to move away.  The lady insisted she needed to go back they way she came, and again they explained the male seal was really agitated and to please move back.
Just then Lefty G28 came charging at R407, and the lady got out of the way fast. (hmmm)
Both boys entered the water fighting. Team R&B let the lady know she should pass by now, but watch out for the 3rd seal (Aukai).
The lady walked by Aukai who postured and whooped at her. The lady made it by, Team R&B were happy to help her and relieved nothing happened.
Miss Dana came by and told Team R&B she would stay with the seals to keep an eye on them. Team R&B were grateful for the help and left to look for other seals.

They headed over to another west side location. The only other seal they found was little RL20. He was all alone on left high rocks. He looks comfortable and they didn't see any hooks or lines on his left side.

Marilyn did Ka'ena Point with Lesley and didn't get to view Rabbit Island until afternoon. She viewed from 2:40 to 4:20 and there were three seals on island.
Three male seals in a group near the waterline between 3BS and SRI.
A/M 1 - adult size, gray male belly, newer coat and two tags.
RK24 Wawamalu/Bruno - subadult size, yellowish brown male belly, two tags and a scar on right side.
A/M 2 - adult size, gray male belly, newer coat and at least one tag on the RRF.
Marilyn isn't convinced that either A/M 1 or A/M 2 is the molting male she's been seeing.
There were also humans on island today, which is always upsetting. A fisherman with a throw net who appears to be close to the seals. Thankfully they didn't react.
A short time later she saw a couple walking along the beach from the Lanikai side of the island. They appeared to be collecting shells. Once they noticed the seals they walked around them higher up on the beach.
