01/15/2022 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.  Also I made a very impromptu ride out to Ka'ena Point.

Today I took a ride to Ka'ena Point with my nephew. It was very impromptu, and I thought we would look at the waves, maybe see a whale and get some sunshine. Well a little walk turned into a bigger walk when I spotted Lesley and Diane. We were on the beach and they were in the polaris on the road. I called out, whistled, and made my way up. Let's just say they were very surprised to see me.  They were on the way out, so my nephew and I continued on.  We made to hidden beach and found an adult male just snoozing on his own. Lesley later confirmed it was in fact R330 Squinty.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:30 to 1:50 and there were two seals on island today. The two
were near the waterline in front of the 3BS.  A/M - adult size, newer coat, gray male belly and unsure about tags. He was initially near RK37, but galumphed Lanikai direction about 15 feet and managed to stay partially blocked by the waterfront rocks.
RK37 Hui - subadult size, light female belly, two tags and nb on lower left side.

Team R&B were with junior sealette today. They started out checking the shoreline on their way to Ka'ena West. They were happy they made the stop because on the rocks they saw a seal.  There was RM31 Kai looking little but okay for a youngen.

Walking out to Ka'ena West the trail was muddy and ponds with tadpole shrimps and some small rock slides. All from the weather we had. They found one seal, female alone on the rocks resting peacefully. It was G89 the girl KG54.
Out at Ka'ena West they came across a small beautiful female resting on the rocks. They didn't see any tags or markers. She has a very light belly, there was nothing to say who she was. She was reported as a U/F unknown female.

After leaving Ka'ena West they went to check on a seal that had
hauled out earlier in the day. Their friend Diane had gone to check and let them know RL12 Aukai was there and then another seal hauled out with her. She had put up some signs and a rope.
When they arrived Diane was still there and both seals moved to the rocky corner. There was Aukai and RH32 Kaale. Team R&B adjusted the zone as the ropes were touching the water and the signs were really close. They stayed on when Diane headed out. Most folks were fine, and then there are always those few.
Team R&B stayed till 5:30 and then headed out. The seals remained with signs, lots of people were on the beach to watch the sunset.
