Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley, Marilyn and Team Billand. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.
Marilyn started her day with N5 between 10:50 and 11:25 am. She is looking small, but was active while hauled out on the beach. There was a volunteer on site and thankfully not a lot of people because of the weather. Although she has an adoring fan club clicking away with their camera. Her mid dorsal N5 bleach shows up well. She has a yellowish belly with a small amount of green on the rear belly and around her nostrils.
After Marilyn left the kid she headed over to the pier to observer Rabbit Island. Marilyn saw seven
seals on island today.Behind LPB water front rocks was: UA, adult size, newer dark coat, and at least one tag. UJM, juvenile size, newer coat, light male belly and two tags. UAM, adult size, old coat, dark male belly, and not sure about tags.
Near 1BS was UW1, weaner size, no tags, yellow belly, (maybe female) and no visible applied bleaches.
At middle cliff was RW22 Kolohe, gray male belly, new coat and that beautiful natural bleach behind RFF. Looks like he finished his molt.
Near the 3BS were two weaners. UW2 was initially in the grass but later moved down to join UW3. Weaner size, no tags, yellow belly, unable to determine sex. They may be an applies bleach on the right rear side but Marilyn could not be sure. UW3, weaner size, no tags, older coat, light yellowish belly, most likely male with a fair amount of green and no visible applied bleach.
Team Billand started their morning at the outfall. There was a seal foraging but not stealing fish. They
determined it was Ka'ale RH32, maybe he was full already. He has a new wound/mark on his back. They were not able to stay and did not see him again. At 10:00 they found Kekoa Alii RK72 at lower rocks again. He was snoozing peacefully. He was there on their afternoon check.
Team Billand had gotten a later start because they had to pickup up junior sealette today. She was with them with they were at the bay and found RN44 to the left rocks resting alone. RL20 Kalua was playing/fighting with R3CX and Lei Ola on ocean side.
Lei Ola RH48 was doing her best since the boys were up to their usual and pestering her. R3CX Nalu spent his time interacting with Lei Ola and the kid RL20. At one point there were some divers in the water with the seals. Most of them went off but one woman stayed and "swam" with the seals. Team Billand called it in to report the incident. GRRRRRR!!!! Then finally after all the playing, fighting and chasing RL20 broke away and landed with RN44.
