11/25/2020 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley, Team Billand, Melody and her friend Sandra W.  Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies and reflects her sighting from Tuesday.

Melody received word last night that Rocky hauled out on a westside beach. She got up early this morning to check on her. When Melody arrived her friend Sandra was already there with Rocky. Melody called the hotline at 7 am. Rocky started off way on top of the beach near the morning glories facing the ocean. There were several residents on the beach and others coming to check on her. 

Rocky slowly made her way down the hill to the waters edge where she decided to stay for a couple of

hours. Melody stayed until a little after 10, she called the hotline again to update them, since no volunteers were on site. Rocky is looking really healthy and quite attractive with her new coat. Sandra got a great shot of her by the property sign.

Team Billand checking out their usual spots found Kekoa Alii RK72 a little after 8:30. He was on left high rocks alone snoozing. He did check up on RL70 Leina, got a little perky, but he stayed in his spot. RL70 Leina was hidden as usual. Team Billand checked from different angles to see what they needed to confirm her ID. Interesting Kekoa knew where to look. R3CX Nalu was at seal inlet, alone and snoozing.

Team Billand headed over to the bay about 1:30 and found Kawena RH36 foraging. Her signature marker on the right corner of the her mouth from a hook. RN44 was alone on the rocks and resting peacefully. His tags were exposed briefly.  Their friends the fishing boobie was lucky today with a catch. Finally they were surprised to see Nalu foraging since they had seen him at another site.

They're pretty sure is was Ka'ale who was foraging by the jetty. While watching him they got to enjoy the dolphins at play.
