11/17/2020 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is page two of the dailies.

Team Billand arrived at the bay a little before 7 am and enjoyed the sunrise. dolphins and schools of fish. They spotted a seal far out foraging. It was too far to get a clue who it might be.

At 8 am they made their first seal ID of the group. Lei Ola RH48 was swimming back and forth. She was foraging and pigging out in the huge school of fish.  Little RL20 Kalua spends his time bugging all the other seals. He is very persistent and the older seals "give it to him" for being a pest, but he just keeps at it. Today Team Billand noticed marks on his head just above his left eye. Could be scratches or something stuck to him.  Team Billand checked on them at the end of the day and RL20 was the only critter who landed.

R3CX Nalu was busy eating and playing in the bay with Lei Ola and RL20. Nalu never hauled out today.

They spotted Aukai RL12 doing her thing but more on her own. The others were busy playing rough,

she stayed away. Her signature marker between her shoulders and her tags.

Team Billand left the bay and headed off to another location just before noon. They found Kekoa RK72 on lower rocks again. He is looking healthy and resting peacefully.  Then they were thrilled to see little RL70 Leina She is looking plump, no new markers, alone on mid rocks.  Mr. Lefty RG28 was near seal inlet resting on the rocks. His cookie scar showing.

At 12:15 at another location they found R407 Kawika. He was on the edge of the rocks, snoozing alone. His coat is looking nice and clean, his cookie scar and line scar were eventually visible.

They were surprised to see Ka'ale RH32 since he's been at the bay most of the time these days. He is very robust in size, coat is clean and most important no hooks.

Last stop Team Billand headed over to PC and found none other than Da Benny RE74. There he was with all the tourist, resting in the middle of a yellow taped zone.
