Today's dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team Billand.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island between 12:30 and 2:50 this afternoon. There were six critters on island today.
Unknown weaner 1 (UFW1) originally located out on the rock flats left of LPB. The seal entered the water about 1 pm and then hauled out to LPB about 1:25 pm. Seal was a weaner size, light female belly, no tags or applied bleaches.
Unknown adult (UA) behind waterfront rocks of LPB, adult size, new coat, gray belly possibly belly
and at least one tag. At first Marilyn thought it might be Right spot, but the seal rear flipper tags so that ruled out Right Spot.RW22 Kolohe was draped across waterfront rock of LPB. Later he moved up the beach when she could confirm his ID. Marilyn thinks his molt is about 60%, most of his belly is clean but he still has a fair amount of old fur on his back. His NB behind his RFF was visible
On LPB near 1BS was Unknown weaner 2 (UFW2), weaner size, light female belly, no tags. Marilyn did not see any applied bleach marks, which makes this a real mystery since we know N2 Nohea is one of the two females born on Oahu and does have a bleach. Along with the weaner was RK37 Huia, juvenile size, female belly, newer coat, 2 tags and a small NB on her lower left side.
Between 3BS and SRI was and unknown weaner (UW), weaner size, no tags, no applied bleaches and unable to determine sex.
Team Billand had a big day at the bay, as soon as they arrived there was a group of seals playing/fighting on the ocean side of the jetty. The first group of critters frolicking was Lei Ola RH48, R3CX Nalu, Ka'ale and N44.
Nalu was playing with N4 Ikaika being cute as could be. N4 never landed, but Nalu landed later in the day and left because of the jumpers on the rocks,
Lefty RG28 was spotted early foraging off the rocks and finally hauled out just before 1.
RL20 Kaula was also playing with N4, seems like the kid was the hit of the day.
Team Billand left the bay and headed over to another westside location. They spotted two critters and made a quick stop. There was Kekoa Alii RK72 in the water hole, came out long enough for them to get an ID. Then there was RH36 Kawena to the right of seal inlet. She was alone, snoozing peacefully.
Last stop for Team Billand they found RL42 Leia. She was on shore, pink tape was up to keep her safe. She is looking healthy and quite lovely. They waited to see if any other critters showed up.
