11/06/2020 Friday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.

Team Billand did three checks to the bay to see what seals were in the area. They started at 6:45 am and stayed until 8:45, returned at 11:53 stayed to 12:40 and last check was between 2:15 and 3:30.

On all three visits the same critters were out and about. Nalu R3CX, Lei Ola RH48 & RL20 Kalua. It wasn't until the afternoon when they found Kaale RH32.  Ka'ale was alone on the rocks snoozing.

Two of the visits they saw someone from DAR on shore watching the seals. On their last visit the seals

were way too close to swimmers, and boats. The swimmers were close to the jetty jumping off, and the seals were just passing by totally unaffected, whereas at one point they wouldn't go near the swimmers.

Seems Lei Ola and Nalu have a thing going on, they spend the entire day today. They get along until RL20 comes by and then all hell breaks loose and there is a lot of splashing going on.

Team Billands thought there were less fish lately, even the frigate birds weren't doing their usual diving, he just hovered and left the area.

At 9 am they found Benny RE74 at a west side beach. Lower on shore molting is about 60%, belly is done, sides and head is clean. Always good to see Benny.

At 12:55 Team Billand arrived at another west side location where they found Kekoa Alii RK72. He was alone resting on lower rocks.

At 1:35 they found Kalani RN14 alone resting on the rocks, nice and cozy. Water in this west side area is still brown looking, not clear at all.
