February 17, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Melody.

Team Billand came across Kolohe RW22 at a westside beach. He was on right high rocks and his applied bleach was showing. Kekoa Alii RK72 came in next looking to haul up by Kolohe.  While on site Team Billand met up with volunteers Tammy and Gary. Third seal on site RW02 PvKauai.

Team Billand left to head over to White Plains and at 10 am they found Pohaku RO28 near the fence line. She was already roped off by the lifeguards. ( how great are these guys!)  Pohaku was resting peacefully looking fat and gorgeous. Unfortunately there were foot prints leading right up to her. Such a same people just can't keep their distance.

Team Billand headed back to the westside to check on the boys, so when they left this morning there were three, Kolohe, Kekoa and PvKauai.  Upon arrival they find two more have joined the party. Kawena RH36 apparently feels quite comfortable hanging out with the boys. Not to mention RIP RR70 has turned this into a party of five.

After checking other locations Team Billand returned to see how the party of five was holding up. But now there are six critters. It was Kaale RH32 who came in next but Kolohe being a bull, reacted to block him off high rocks, they fought/played for up to an hour. Ka'ale finally went to lower rocks with Kawena and to his left, RIP in the middle and RW02 to the right. Kekoa was still on high rocks, Kolohe remained in the shallow waters.  Ka'ale galumphed over to RW02 for sleep and relaxation.

Melody was in Waikiki today looking after her White Tern Ohana. (which are beautiful little birdies).
She got a call from the security guard from her residence and was told there was a seal on the beach. Melody thought for sure it would be Rocky until security said it was a little one. She called the hotline who already had a call about the seal.  Melody made her way home and there was a little critter H93 ID'd by tag, our little female from Kauai RH92. Melody spent the afternoon with her. She spent the day snoozing and rolling in her little corner of the cove.  Little Kauai girl got lots of visitors during the day including a Kolea who didn't want to leave her alone. There were a couple of downpours and after the second one little Kauai girl decided to leave. Melody informed the hotline of her departure.
