06/06/2022 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Diane and Team R&B💕

Diane viewed Rabbit Island today and when she arrived about 12:30 she was treated to a wonderful find. On her second scan of the island she spotted U/AF (mom) and PO6. She probably thought they were rocks on her first scan (if you know you know).
Seal 1: An unknown unidentified with 2 tags left of the 1BS. It's possible it is a subadult male but she could not confirm.
Seal 2: An unknown female about 20 feet left of the 3BS. It was hard to see much as she was partially hidden by a rock but her belly was clearly visible.
Seal 3: An unknown unidentified at the far right under the cliffs. the
photo with its head lifted show what looks like a line down the right side of the face. Could be nothing but worth the mention.
Seals 4&5:  Mom and PO6 were pointed down facing the water. Mom was on her side with her flipper on the pup. After a while the pup started moving around mom. The pup was active and moving normally. Diane did not see any afterbirth or the umbilical cord.

Team R&B started their morning at 7:30 watching lots of dolphins going crazy, possibly chasing schools of fish. They were jumping together, solo and full bodies coming out of the water. This went on for about 20 minutes then all dolphins stopped to rest and went further out.
At a close by location they spotted RL08 on the rocks.  At first he was alone.
Later on their recheck there was another seal. It was the beautiful molted Lei Ola RH48.

Next stop at the bay they found a seal on the rocks. There was the very handsome RM31 Kai. The waves kept hitting him so he gave up and left the site.

Heading over to another beach further west they initially didn't see
anything, on shore or in the water. Then out of no where they saw something wiggling in the water, a seal!  The seal was going in and out of each inlet and out. It was a tagged adult with a green snout who they believe it to be Kaale RH32.  He moved on and they lost site of him.

As they were passing another area they noticed a seal on shore. It was RN14 Kalani and thankfully the folks on the beach were okay. No one bothered him while they were on site. There were three dogs, but even they stayed away.

Lastly they went back to recheck on RL08 and Lei Ola. They were both gone but they did see a seal foraging where there had been some boats earlier. They believe this was RL08.
