Marilyn viewed spitting cave from 8:25 to 9:25 and spotted a seal swimming in from the Hanauma Bay direction heading towards Maunalua Bay. She saw the seal doing 7 minute dives.
She believes the seal to be an adult with two red tags. There was a scar showing some white above and behind the right eye, perhaps a scar across the right eye. This may be RG32.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:25 to 3:15 and there were five seals on island today.
Both mom and pup pairs were initially down among the water front rocks of LPB close to each other. Not long after Marilyn arrived MO7-PO7 moved into one of the surge channels. Sometime later MO6-PO6 entered the same surge channel. Soon after MO7-PO7 galumphed out of the surge channel.
MO6-PO6 eventually moved out of the channel and was parallel to the O7s. After awhile MO7-PO7 moved in the Lanikai direction and further up the beach. Seems MO7 is most concerned being close to MO6.
Both pups seem active, and PO7 is larger than PO6 even though it is a day younger. Marilyn can't tell at this time, the gender of either pup.
About 50 feet Lanikai side of the 1BS was RK37 Hui'a. Subadult size, older coat, female belly, two red tags and nb on her lower left side.
Team R&B arrived at a west side location and watched two seals come into the area. First critter was big boy aka butthead RH32 Kaale. As he came around they saw little RP30 Puka hauling in.
Kaale got excited seeing the kid and landed with Puka. They met nuzzled noses kissed and sniffed each other. Then it was as if Kaale was able to say OK kid, you're safe here, I gotta go now. And just like that Kaale took off and they did not see him again.
Team R&B did another Ka'ena West trek. The tide was higher and rough waters. Unfortunately they didnot see any seals.
On their way back home they spotted two seal from a far. They pulled over and made the walk to find:
RN14 Kalani with RL42 Leia. RL42 doesn't look chubby at all, she has some more scratched on her sides and back but she seems fine.
Kalani was sleeping with what looked like a big smile on his face. There were people around on the beach but everyone was really good leaving the seals alone.
