06/07/2022 Tuesdays' Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕, Diane and myself.

Talk about shock and awe, Diane and I viewed Rabbit Island today and we found a second Mom and pup pair.  The conversation between us was quite funny, along the lines of, are you sure your not looking at a rock?
There was actually a total of six seals, two adult to subadult seals by the 3BS behind the rocks. They did not show us anything to determine who they were and since we were on low battery power I didn't bother with photos.
Mom#1 and PO6 - they were in the same spot as yesterday near the 1BS. When we first arrived the kid was climbing on the rocks, unfortunately the camera wasn't set up. PO6 spent most of its time tucked between the rocks and close to mom. There are a couple of photos (blurry) showing the pup's head.
Mom #2 and PO7 - They were on LPB and again we missed some photos because the camera wasn't connected. We did observe the pup nurse and most of the time "big" momma blocked our view. I included extra photos of Mom hoping to get an ID.
All the people that needed to know were informed.  They were surprised as we were.

Team R&B got to their first stop and spotted a seal on the rocks. It was a big fat male, none other than RH32 Kaale. Then they noticed another seal with him, it was RL08. There was a little interaction/argument but the two finally settled.

Then Team R&B noticed at the outfall there were three seals fighting. They continued to fight as they swam towards the area where they were. They were able to ID RN14 Kalani by his applied N14 bleach. He was giving the female with the clean coat a hard time. They never got a good look at 3rd seal.

They rushed to the area where there are now five seals on the rocks, all arguing with each other.
RN14 Kalani was with an unknown. They did see him with Lei Ola RH48 as well. Kalani was enraged, who knows what got him all worked up but he wasn't happy.
Kaale RH32 was there with KG54 were up on the rocks, as well as RL08.

Apparently Lei Ola and Kalani did not stay, so Team R&B went searching for them. They checked three different areas and finally found Kalani RN14 at paradise cove.
He was by the rocks floating and resting. They waited and waited and finally he decided to land on shore. They were able to get people back and then went to get signs, there were none.  They called the hotline and updated them, and told them they needed signs there weren't any. They finally gathered some palm fronds to create a zone, and it actually worked. They waited and spent their time educating folks. By 10:30 after waiting for a volunteer, they had to leave and updated the hotline.
