Posse Pal Justin T saw 2 monk seals hauled at a secluded spot and then foraging in the ocean. RJ06 Aka and another seal that Justin could not identify that did not have obvious flipper tags.
Team R&B have had slim pickings as far as seal sighting, today wasn't any different. After much time looking they finally discovered RH32 Kaale alone on the rocks near a fisherman.
They even did the Ka'ena West trek from 9:30 to 12:30 and did not find one seal out there. They did see a couple of guys cutting up cars. Hopefully they were out there to clean up :-)
Next they made a stop and when they arrived they saw a slither of a seal. There were lots of people in the area they decided to make the ID and leave. They ID'd Lei Ola RH48 took her photo and left to keep her spot safe.
While driving they spotted a seal, funny how well they can do that. They pulled over and had to hike out a little bit. There were two seals sleeping peacefully. One was RM31 Kai, who they had never seen this far out before. They could see the wound on his mouth is healing nicely.
With him was big boy RN14 Kalani, Team R&B was also surprised to see him in this area.
Before they ended their day, they did one more round in the area. They were shocked to find two seals on the rocks. There was RL08, ID'd by his cyst. In the shallow pond was Huakai KG54 looking comfortable.
