06/12/2022 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Gamma Gayle and Team R&B💕

Gayle went to visit with RQ64.  Gayle commented that she is a chubby one!  Chubby weaners are the best!

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:55 to 3:45 and there were six seals during her viewing.6
On LPB were both MO6 and MO7 and their pups.
Lanikai side of LPB was MO7 and her pup PO7. As usual most of
their time was spent snoozing. Marilyn did see the pup move around her at least once.
About 60 ft away towards the 1BS was was MO6 and her pup PO6. There wasn't much activity from this pair today. They were mostly higher up the beach and it was more difficult to view over the sand berm.

Between 3BS and SRI was a juvenile male seal who Marilyn is reasonable sure is R7AF with his N2 bleach. Juvenile size, yellowish tan male belly, two red tags and a N2 bleach on his right side. He was not far from where he was yesterday.

About 3:15 Marilyn was doing a scan to the Makapuu side of RRB and was surprise to find a smaller seal hauled out on the rocks. Its rare to see seals in this area. Juvenile seal, light female belly, unsure about tags. Marilyn suspects this is the same J/F that has been on LPB the previous two days.

Team R&B got a text about a seal on shore at a west side location. They went immediately and was delighted and shocked to find RK28 KC.  This certainly was a surprise seeing her out on the west side.
Some of the surfers said she was there yesterday swimming around.
KC is looking huge and will probably find a safe place to pup. For Team R&B seeing her brought back memories of DB who would often see her on the south & east side of the island.

KC has a lot of scars between cookie cutter bites and a couple actual shark bites. While observing her KC hardly moved.  Melina was there to help out doing outreach to the surfers and fishers.

Next they made a quick stop and found RL08. He was alone today and was resting on the rocks.

Team R&B went to another area and found RP30 Puka. He was there alone and this makes day four. He did move his spot on the rocks.

They checked other sites coming up empty so they made the Ka'ena West hike on this hot day.  The only critter they found but well worth the trip was their little guy Pe'ekai RP84. He has a small bite on his chest area, nothing to be concerned with, but makes for his first marker. Even out here he has his way of hiding in the rocks.
