06/11/2022 Saturdays Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Team R&B arrived at their first stop and spent time sitting on the rocks looking out at the ocean. There were lots and lots of people in the water today.  While sitting they heard a familiar sound, a seal breathing.... and it was!  There was RL20 Kalua swimming by them.
They moved to a different spot and found RL08 and RH32 Kaale hauled out.
When RL20 Kalua approached Kaale went ballistic, they fought.
RL20 left the site and Kaale went to rest next to RL08. Wonder if he's protecting RL08 or just being a butthead!

At another west side location they finally laid eye on RP30 Puka. He was in the same spot for the last three days. They made sure he was doing okay, he looks good stretched and scratched. He must just like this spot.

Next they did the Ka'ena West trek and found their sweet little RP84 Pe'ekai. They were thrilled to see him since it had been a week. He's getting very green.  They been watching over and seeing him grow since January 16th.

After the trek they passed an area and happen to see movement. So they stopped and hurried over and there was RN14 Kalani cruising around looking for chicks.
Lastly on their way home they saw lots of vehicles in an area they passed and noticed there was a truck stuck in the sand (WTH).  They went to check it out  and with their super seal sensory there were two seals. They were able to ID RW02 PvKauai with his three red tags. He was with a female; adult size and two red tags. They could not read the sandy tags and could not get an ID.  One of the gentlemen on the beach let them know the seals were both swimming around all day and had just landed.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 2:35 to 3:45 and there were six seals during her observation.
Furthest Lanikai direction on LPB was a J/F: juvenile size, light female belly and two red tags.

A short distance from the J/F was MO7 and PO7. MO7 (probably RL12 Aukai) is a large adult female, small scar between her shoulders and a brownish coat. PO7 spent much of the time nursing and hidden behind big momma.

Near the 1BS area were MO6 and PO6. When Marilyn first started viewing this mom-pup pair were in
the nearshore waters having a swim.  Then a boat came by fairly close to shore and MO6 and PO6 hauled out. Mom went up the fairly steep berm and PO6 has to struggle to get up the incline but managed to do so. After a short nursing session the pup headed down the incline towards the water and mom followed. Later they moved back up the slope.  (MO6 could be RH76 Kala) Today Marilyn saw the shark bite scar on her left neck area.

On the beach Makapuu side of the 3BS was juvenile male seal that Marilyn believes is R7AF based on the N2 bleach seen on his right side. Juvenile size, light tan male belly and two red tags.
