Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:30 to 2:50 and there were two seals.
The two seals were near each other on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB. They are both labeled Unknown Subadults.
U/S 1: subadult to adult size, two red tags, Marilyn things and possibly a nb on the lower left side, (or could be a reflection). If it was a nb this would be RK37 Hui'a.
U/S 2: subadult to adult size, lighter belly with a fair amount of green and at least one red tag.
The location they where they were is really difficult to photograph because of the waves breaking inthat area and there is lots of spray.
Today Team R&B started their day at the bay. To their delight one seals was already up on the rocks. They ID'd RL20 Kalua snoozing away.
At another west side site they found Mr. RM31 Kai snoozing. He was alone, no seal buds hanging out with him today. They did see a honey bee did land on him, in which he swatted away with his fore flipper.
He was still there when they did a recheck later in the day.
A quick check they found RG28 Lefty. He was alone snoozing in the rocks. He looks good. When they did a recheck he was no longer there.
They spotted a seal from far off, so they took a drive over. Initially they were having difficulty IDing the female. They first thought it might be R413.
When they went back a second time, they discovered the female was KG89 Huaka'i. Initially they didn't see her tag, but on the second visit they could see the gray tag and knew immediately.
Also with her was RH32 Kaale all grown up now and going after the females. They were both close to a SUP board, from someone living at the camp.
Kaale was happy with his new girlfriend, they were resting peacefully. Well "she is a beaut" as Steve Irwin would say.
