04/21/2022 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Tammy, posse pal Amy and Team R&B💕.

Tammy of Team T&D hiked solo yesterday. She first made a stop to see Luana RN58 and Mauna PO5. When she arrived Mom wanted pup to do some water time. PO5 did not want to, there was a lot of barking back and forth. Mom won! It wasn't a long water session maybe about 15 minutes in the shallows.
On her hike she found four seals. Ka'ena RO40 and Squinty R330 were near each other.  Her next find was PvKauai RW02.  Last she found a seal hidden in the rocks. At first there wasn't much to go on, but after an hour she got a flipper flap. She got to see 1 tag and a natural bleach. There was Holokai RG40.

Posse pal Amy got word from Auntie that a seal had hauled out, then half hour later Auntie told her
there were two other seals at PC. Amy called the hotline, she was told a volunteer was scheduled to come at 14:00.
When Amy got on site there were signs posted on both sides of the seals. Visitors were on shore inside the SRA. Amy provided Monk Seal 101 for four hours. She repositioned the SRA side closer to the resort. The seal resting on shore was RH32 Kaale, he was at the edge during low  tide.
Amy encouraged people to give the seal some room and perhaps find another route back to the resort as the tide was rising.  Kaale left the beach heading north at 3:17 heading north. Amy had updated everyone on Kaale's leaving.  She was informed that Aukai and Kalani were at PC and Kaale had joined them.
Team R&B started at the bay and spotted RM31 Kai coming in cautiously to the rocks. He landed, kept looking around and then left to forage off shore.  On their return later in the day RM31 had landed on front rocks and alone.
They did see another seal foraging off in the distance to the right. They got one photo showing a greenish seal diving, they could not make an ID from that distance.

At the next stop they found a little male seal on the rocks. It was little Molokai kid L7. They couldn't stay at the site since there was some work being done in that area and they had to leave.

Team R&B got a text from one of a local guy they had met yesterday. He sent photos of RP30 Puka on the rocks so they hurried out to the see.  They got to the site and there was Kawika R407 alone rolling on the shore. They saw his natural bleach on left butt and his big cc scar on back, no tags.
While there they did some investigating around and to the right was a little female in the rocks, snoozing peacefully. They are not sure if this is RL98 Lina, the seal has no tags, no real markers just a little mint green female.

They returned to the area where RM31 Kai had been. He was alone and the scar on his chest was now showing. He remained at the site.
They also found RP84 Pe'ekai up on lower rocks snoozing alone.

While in the area they decided to see if they could make it down to check on L7. He was still on the rocks. But now they saw a flipper flex and there was a gray tag. They ran over and there was RG54 Huaka'i who recently arrived on Oahu all the way from Kure Atoll. She was on the rocks resting peacefully.
Suddenly they heard the dogs and saw them coming their way. There were homeless moving back setting up their camps. Team R&B took off for safety, in fear of the dogs.

Team R&B went to check in with posse pal Amy. They knew Kaale had left the beach, but went to check on the other two seals. When they arrived there were three seals and a volunteer on scene. Signs were up and there was big boy Kaale RH32 who looked like he just hauled in. That boy is big.
Together was RN14 Kalani and the lovely RL12 Aukai.  All seemed to be settled in, no drama.
