Team T&D hiked out to the point and met up with Lesley. They had a good seal day. The first find was RL98 Lina resting on "her" beach.
Next was RL74 Kami, who always surprises them as to where she'll haul out. Kind of like monk seal version of where's Waldo.
They found Lefty RG28 who was an easy ID with all his scars.
When they came across the next seal they waited for Lesley to help with the ID. She ID'd Holokai RG40, he's been hanging out in the area for a bit.
Lastly there was a seal hidden in the rocks. They only got to see a little of her but R604 Kiane was ID'd by her many scars.
Team R&B went and searched the area at the bay and came up empty. As they were leaving, looking one last time they spotted a seal hidden in the rocks edge. It was RL20 Kalua, which they were happy to see him since its been awhile.
At the outfall they were watching a school of Akule changing patterns and then they spotted RH32 Kaale hunting for food.
They heard the fisher yelling and saw Kaales' wake going for the fish, the fisher reeled in so fast. Kaale almost got the fish, he came up on the rocks and stared at the fisher. The fisher had some colorful names for him. Kaale has been doing this for a long time, thankfully there were only three fishers.
From afar they noticed people looking at a big seal on shore. They drove over to find Lanakila R8HE from out island. They were concerned the black dog would be around to chase her off the beach, but thankfully he wasn't there today. Team R&B called the hotline and were thanked for reporting, but no indication if someone was available.
Team R&B built a rock zone and kept folks away. Of course there's always that one who walked right up to the seal, then around to the front. Team R&B did their best to explain to walk around and let the seal rest, the woman was uncaring.
Team R&B called the hotline again and expressed concern over people and dogs in the area.. They waited until after 1 pm and thankfully Melina came.
Team R&B headed over to another west side location and found RP84 Pe'ekai was on high rocks, snoozing alone.
To the right at seal inlet was R3CU who didn't move a whole lot for them.
They went to check on Kaale hoping he would haul out, finally they saw him swimming and they called out to folks to be careful seal was coming in. Kaale hauled in and went right up to R8HE Lanakila and they had words. People were gathering and Team R&B did their best to ask people to stay behind the rocks.
They arrived at another busy beach and found Aukai RL12 on the waters edge. As some dude walked in front of her a couple nearby yelled at the man and it seem to spook Aukai.
There were two signs up and Team R&B repositioned them. They did not see a volunteer, but the couple that yelled at the guy told Team R&B they would keep an eye on the seal and not let people get close.
Over to another site and a volunteer was on site and had put up azone. Posse pal Amy was also there.
Team R&B introduced themselves to the volunteer and updated him on Kekoa Alii RK72 and even gave him some background where he was born and how old. Volunteers response was a interesting saying; "Oh you determined that?" Rather than taking an interest in the animal, whatever.
