04/06/2022 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 10:50 to 1:50 and there were four, maybe five seals today.
Out on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB was what Marilyn has labeled as S/M: subadult to adult size, mottled male belly, not sure about tags. He disappeared about 11:20 probably into a tide pool, but reappeared about 12:30.
About 1:15 Marilyn noticed that a small seal had hauled out near the S/M. She identified the new arrival as U/J: juvenile size, very green. Belly and rear flipper were never visible long enough to make a call on gender or tags.  (It would be her wish that these two might be Aka RJ06 and Nohea RM26 since they were seen together in the southeast quadrant)
About 11:30 am Marilyn became aware of a seal moving toward the shoreline on LPB. She believes this was RK37 based on her subadult size, yellowish female belly, two red tags and a nb on the lower left side. This seal entered the water about 12:15.
During Marilyn's entire viewing session Makapuu side of the 3BS partially hidden behind the water front rocks was S/F 1: subadult to adult size, yellowish female belly, not sure about tags.
At 12:35 Marilyn became aware of a seal newly hauled out at SRI. This is S/F 2: subadult size, yellowish female belly.  Marilyn thinks this could be RK37 who entered the water at 12:15, she can not be sure since the nb and tags were visible.

Team R&B was sent a photo of a seal that they didn't recognize so they decided to check it out. On shore was R8HE Lanakila high up and resting. The dogs in the area started to bark, R8HE became aware and moved down. She got a lot of cc scars under her belly, a large one at her nipple area.
Her back has mobbing scars, in which NOAA had given her antibiotics when the wound was fresh. They called the hotline.  After Team R&B left they were updated by their friend she was still there in the company of two turtles.

At another west side location they found RP84 Pe'ekai on high rock. He was along and snoozing
peacefully.
To the very right at seal inlet was big boy R3CU in snooze mode. He did not move while they were there but they did see his tag.

Team R&B got a call from one of their posse pal protectors to say a seal had hauled out at one of the popular locations. When they arrived there were signs already up and there was RH32 Kaale.  Finally he landed in peace.  Seems their posse pal went all out creating a zone, using sticks, vines and some rocks. Nice to see people going above and beyond with lots of heart.  All was good so Team R&B left the site.  When they looked back Kaale was gone, so they texted their friend and even she was surprised he slipped away so quickly.
Next stop they spotted RN14 Kalani on the rocks snoozing. They did see another seal and couldn't tell if it was RK72 or R3CX, they just couldn't make the ID.  They walked over to look from another perspective but the seal didn't move and they could not see tags.
That's when a dog approached them, and knowing most of the dogs are not friendly they became concerned. It did follow them and staring them down, so they left the site.
