Team T&D hiked Ka'ena Point today and met up with Lesley. Their first find was Ka'ena RO40. Next in a tidepool was R604 Kiane. Next in the main pool was R330 Squinty.
Just as Lesley was leaving she saw a seal with R604. At first they thought it was Ka'ena but it turned out to be R3CU. He and Kiane had some play time in the tidepool.
They did find a wedge tailed shearwater, which you could tell by all the poop.
On their way out they saw Lady at her beach. A little way down they found RL74 Kami, and then there was RN58 Luana. She is looking very healthy and big.
Team R&B were delighted to find two seals at a west side location. They had just hauled out on the rocks. One was RG28 Lefty, who has a new cc wound that is healing nicely. The other was the lovely fat RH76 Kala. She just seems to be getting bigger. It was nice and early and the lighting was perfect.
Now RH32 Kaale was there and Team R&B were both happy and surprised to see him here. He was resting in peace instead of a beach filled with people and dogs.
Team R&B were with posse pal Amy and it was nice for her to meet some other critters, as well as be in a location where she didn't have to worry about all the people. A very different environment and a greater appreciation seeing the seals in their natural habitat with out humans.
Lastly there was Pe'ekai RP84 resting in the rocks, as usual.
Team R&B got a call from their posse and let them know a seal had hauled out and the beach was crazybusy. So they alone with Amy rushed to the site to find a zone already in place by their posse pal and a seal resting. It was RN14 Kalani. Amy got to experience a different kind of crowd than she usually deals with.
Their next seal was the handsome Kekoa Alii RK72 resting. He was resting in a pond with tiny fish nibbling at his body. He was truly relaxed.
At another location they found the beautiful RL12 Aukai on shore and there were lots of people around. A volunteer was on site who said she had hauled out at 9 am, but she had arrived just 20 minutes before Team R&B got there. There was a zone set up and Aukai was the waters edge cooling off. Lets just say she is looking really big these days.
