04/17/2022 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

They started their day by watching a black raft leaving the harbor. Suddenly it stopped to photograph something and as they watched there was a seal but they couldn't get an ID.  They could only see the seal popping up as the folks were taking pics.

Next stop they spotted a seal in the outfall, foraging. The seal was not
in a hurry taking his time nice and slow filling his belly. They were able to ID Kekoa Alii RK72. He never landed while they were there.
Then they spotted two seals hauling in at a nearby beach. The seals on the rocks were arguing with each other for a spot. It was Lefty RG28 and L7.  Lefty galumphed past the small L7, rolled on his side and stayed there for the rest of their observation.  L7 continued to make his way on the rocks and was close to Lefty.
Team R&B spotted another seal on the rocks, but it was from afar and hard to ID. They made a quick check discovered it was RH32 Kaale.

At another west side location they could see a female seal covered in poop.  It was RH76 Kala not looking her best. Team R&B didn't have a lot of time so they took only a few pics of her.

Heading over to a popular location they saw a seal basking on the rocks. They ID'd RL20 Kalua. There were a group of folks came by to jump off the rocks. The good news it they were respectful, Team R&B did some educating. What was very sweet was the folks knew Team R&B, asking if they to go swim. Team R&B told them it was fine as long as they stayed back from the seal. The response they got was " No worries Auntie, we know you care about the seals a lot."
At the same location there were two folks walking down to the rocks, when Team R&B spotted a
bobbing head coming up through the rocks. They asked the couple to stop because a seal was hauling in. Once the couple saw it they said oh a sea lion. Team R&B went into monk seal 101 mode. They gave the seal some space and R407 Kawika hauled in. They had just seen him out at Ka'ena West yesterday. He had a lot to say on his way in being very vocal. His CC scar on his back was visible. They also saw the scar on his left eye and on his head, plus his natural bleach on left side, no tags.
