Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:15 to 2:00 and there were five seals on island today.
Out on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB were two seals:
A/F: subadult to adult size, very light female belly and unknown if there were tags:
Near the A/F was an A/M: adult size, darker gray male belly and not sure about tags.
On LPB about 40 feet Lanikai side of the 1BS was a J/F: larger juvenile size, lighter gray female belly mostly covered by sand and two red tags.
Near SRI were two seals:
RK37 Hui'a: subadult size, mottled yellowish female belly, two red tags and her NB on her lower rear left side.
Not far from RK37 was another S/F: subadult size, yellowish-gray female belly with a fair amount of green and two red tags.
Marilyn was happy to have five seals on island again.
Team R&B spotted only one seal on the rocks at the bay. It was RL20 Kalua, he is looking green. He was alone and snoozing.
Over at the outfall was where they first spotted Kekoa Alii RK72. After an hour or so he then moved onto another spot and tried to haul out. There were so many people with cell phones rushing to the water Kekoa decided to move on.
Then Team R&B spotted him going towards the rocks but a guy had a lay net and there were two spear fishers in the water.
Kekoa went all the way around these obstacles moved onto the rocks with a little help from the waves. He made it safe and got settled in. Team R&B was exhausted after tracking him for two hours.
Next they spotted a seal snoozing on the rocks at another site. It was Kaale RH32. They took a chanceand made it to the area and Kaale was fast a sleep.
Team R&B headed over to another west side location and on their first check there was no seals in the area. On their second visit they found Pe'ekai RP84 on high rocks and he was alone.
On a second visit to check on RL20, he was gone. They did spot two seals, along with a very strange dude. Thankfully the dude left without incident. (PLEASE be careful out there).
The seals were R3CX Nalu in the company of Miss Lei Ola RH48. They stayed with them for over an hour and informed Melina to come by when she could.
Nalu was okay but then they noticed the blood slowly showed up in the pond. He was calm and wasn't tossing or turning showing them anything more.
Lei Ola was actively moving, and she is looking fat, healthy and beautiful She watched Nalu, they thought she was ready to sneak away but she only moved down a bit.
Another guy came by and asked if there was anything he could do to help the seal that was bleeding. They explained they were there just to observe and would be reporting him, but for now he was resting.
Their last seal of the day was their beloved Benny RE74. It looked like he had just hauled out. He is looking good, he didn't have any new markers or wounds. They were extremely grateful to find him again.
