04/16/2022 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:10 to 1:15 and there were three seals on island today.
Near the back of LPB was U/S #1: subadult size, at least one red tag, not sure about gender. The seal did move higher up the beach.
About 60 ft Makapuu side of 3BS was a S/F: juvenile to subadult size, light female belly and unsure about tags. She initially was up in the dunes partly obscure by the vegetation. Later she moved down near the waterline.
Neat SRI was an U/S #2: subadult size, unsure about tags or gender.

Team R&B was out today and their first seal spotted was Lefty RG28. He was snoozing in a small pond on the rocks.
Next they saw RN14 Kalani at tracks, so they called the hotline immediately. Since there have been so many dogs running seals off the beach not to mention the people who are getting too close.

Team R&B and junior sealette hiked out to Ka'ena West. Their first find was R3CU on the rocks. He was snoozing alone.
Next they found this big boy, who they ID'd as R407 Kawika. They noted his cookie scar on back, the line scar on his forehead, scar on left eye, and no tags.

After leaving Ka'ena West they went to check on the other beaches and they were crowded. At one spot they found Lei Ola RH48 snoozing on the rocks. They were surprise to find her and she was resting peacefully. She looks good, but her tags are hard to read.

At another west side location they found their boy Pe'ekai RP84. They had visited the site earlier but there were no seals, so they were happy to try again and find the kid.

After taking junior sealette home, they were about to call it a day
when a friend call to say there's a seal on the beach. They hurried down before the sun set. When they arrived they found Nalu R3CX with four turtles. R3CX seems fine, there is still some blood showing but nothing like last week. He has been moving around and hanging out with three females.
What was cool the four turtles, big ones visiting with him. One came up on shore, all the way to his hind flippers. Nalu immediately got angry and flew his hind flippers out. Turned to face the turtle and whooped at it. The poor turtle turned and sped off back in the water.  Nalu went back to resting.
Then a woman decided to go in for a dip, walked through the zone that was set up. Nalu saw her and started to galumph down to the water.
