07/27/2021 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's' dailies are brought to you by Melody and Team R&B💕.

Melody went to spend some time this morning with RP30 Puka/Leihilo. He spent most of his time playing and thankfully there wasn't a lot of visitors around.  Melody sent video of his playing with his coconut in the water.

Team R&B started their early morning check at the bay and the fishermen told them no seal today. They spotted a male seal cruising by the jetty can came along the shore closet to them. It was an adult male and after looking at their photo they determined it was RG28 Lefty.  Since they did not see RL20 Kalua they went looking around for him in as many nooks and crannies. They were delighted to find him snoozing. He certainly is bright green.

On a later check RL20 was back in the water by the jetty. There was one fisherman on the wall and kids on paddle boards. They were watching the seal, but RL20 took off diving.

At another west side location they found a plump male to the right. It took them a bit to make the ID,  they finally got the tag it was R3CX.  While checking out Nalu R3CX they saw a second seal to the left lower rocks. It was Lefty RG28 who had cruised by the bay earlier. Lefty perked up and looked to the left, then there were three! Seal number three is Benny! He came right to lower rocks, he was cautiously approaching looking at G28 who wasn't all that happy. Benny RE74 turned and left the site, and wasn't seen again.

Team R&B arrived at Yoks and noticed a little green seal on shore. They hurried over to find RM31 Kai, there were lots of people but they were okay. UNTIL a man and his son walked right over by Kai. The next kid came with his boogie board right up to the seal. Team R&B called the hotline. They were away of the seal that someone had called in and sent video. Team R&B were hoping some one would arrive soon.  

While waiting they noticed three ladies taking photos of something.

They looked closer and saw two seals, one in the corner snoozing. Two of the women walked right by the seal who was RN14 Kalani.  Team R&B saw the other seal's head and flippers.  Suddenly Kalani got vocal and charged where the woman had been. There was RL42 Leia and perhaps a third seal, but by the time Team R&B could make sense of what was happening the women ran up the cliff to their car. Kalani went and laid next to RL42 on the rocks.
