Today's dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕. Marilyn did Ka'ena Point with Lesley today and they had seven seals. Hopefully we'll see Lesley's update tomorrow.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 2:15 to 3:25 pm. There were three seals on island today. In the middle cliff was an unknown, subadult to adult size, female belly, new coat and at least one tag U/F.
Between 3BS and SRI were two seals. Unknown, juvenile size, gray female belly and two tags. Marilyn thinks this is either a one or two year old J/F by its size.
Weaner P04 hauled out near the J/F and approached the U/F, but they never interacted. P04 was ID'd by
weaner size and shape, one tag in her RRF and no nbs on her front flippers. A little bit later P04 started playing with sticks and then entered the water about 2:50.Team R&B early check this morning found RL20 Kalua in the bay by the jetty foraging and trying to steal fish. Later in the afternoon on their last check he was still out there but further away from the jetty. Now there were paddle boarders at the jetty, four kayaks and five anchored boats in the bay.
At the outfall, they spotted a seal leaving and heading over to near by beach. There were two divers side by side following the seal. They saw his natural bleach cue ball on right side and they were able to ID RW22 Kolohe. He still has an injury on his snout. Kolohe did not land during their observations.
At another west side location they spotted a seal snoozing on the rocks. Team R&B also noticed there was something weird with its left eye. They immediately forwarded the photos to NOAA. They were able to ID RN14 Kalani and it looks like he has a serious eye injury to his left eye.
While observing RN14 they noticed another green seal sleeping to the right. It was RL70 Leina. She was about 20 feet from Kalani and there was no interaction between the two of them.
The last seal of the day for Team R&B they spotted a seal at rails. There was Lei Ola RH48 snoozing between the rocks.
