07/23/2021 Friday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕.

They started their day with little Mr. Green RL20 Kalua, foraging and stealing fish at the bay by the jetty. He spent a lot of time further out this morning. Team R&B stayed for an hour and half observing his actions.  Same actions different day.

At another west side location they spotted a green male seal snoozing on lower rocks. He was kind enough to make his tags visible and they were able to ID R3CX Nalu. He later galumphed down to the shallows to snooze some more.

Team R&B did manage to find RN14 Kalani snoozing between some rocks. They saw the nb bleach on

its side and knew right away, it was RN14 Kalani. NOAA showed up and they pointed out Kalani. They were there to look at his eye, which is looking much better. There was another seal next to Kalani who turned out to be RL42 Leia. Leia moved up and Kalani followed her. (he obviously feels well enough to chase a female).

While on the road driving past Makaha they spotted people taking photos of a seal on shore. They pulled over and found Da Benny RE74.  They called the hotline right away since the beach was crowded and folks were walking over to him.

When they back tracked to do a few rechecks they spotted a seal on the rocks to the left. It was RH48 Lei Ola.  This is the first time they have seen her in this particular spot. She was resting and the rising tide was washing over her.
