Today's dailies are brought to you by Melody and I am happy to say Team R&B💕.
Melody received a message from a friend of a seal near Waikiki. Since Melody happened to be in the area checking on White Terns (her other passion) she went to check on the seal. She found Kolohe RW22 snoozing on the beach in Kahala. She noted he still has his injury on his muzzle but looks good. The injury is better but not healed.
Melody was told Kolohe had hauled out around 7:45 am and he was still there relaxing without being disturbed. There were signs up and a volunteer on site. People were thrilled to see him since its believed that this is the first monk seal seen at this location. Who knows maybe that's true but it certainly isn't a popular haul out spot. Thankfully everyone was being respectful.
Team R&B took some time today to check a couple beaches and they were happy to find RH76 Kala at a west side location. She was seen alone at seal inlet resting peacefully. To her right there was another seal, it was RL70 Leina on the rocks. There were large sets of waves coming in, rolling her off the rocks. She fought back and made her way inland on the rocks. She is looking minty green and very healthy.
Team R&B went out for a quick check at the bay and found one lone seal foraging. RL20 Kalua continues to forage in the same area near the jetty. He's doing a good job dodging the lures and line. As the day goes on more and more people arrive and RL20 moves further out. His hind flippers look black from being in the water so much. I can't wait for this little one to molt.
