07/16/2021 Friday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley and Team R&B💕.  Lesley's Ka'ena update reflects Wednesday and Thursday's updates. Please see part two of the dailies!  (Hi Bobbi and Steve 😉😊

Another day at the bay and sure enough there was Mr. Kalua RL20. Same behavior he was close to the wall where the fishermen are, lots of floaters in the water, which he would dodge. Fishermen chumming the water and with blood meal mixed with sand. Kalua stole a fish again, the fishermen make lots of noise when he does, I suppose an attempt to scare him away.  Late afternoon check Kalua was gone.

The dolphins were out today and so were the people. Team R&B observed the dolphins swimming,

jumping and having fun until the people came. That is when the dolphins went further out.

At another west side location Team R&B were happy to find a seal hauled out on the rocks. They ID'd RL42 Leia snoozing very peacefully.

Their next find was RL70 Leina sleeping on lower rocks by her lonesome. In the area was Kalani RN14 on his own and thankfully not bothering RL70.

Team R&B's last find of the day came when they saw a glimpse of a seal in the shallows. By the time they got to the area, the seal was partially in the shallows snoozing comfortably. This area is a little tough to get to with all the tents and dogs, but they manage to ID Lei Ola RH48.
