Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley and Team R&B💕. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.
Team R&B got to the outfall this morning and got a big treat watching Kaale RH32 eating a big stick fish. He was tossing it about chasing it under the water and coming back up with chunks missing. After about 40 minutes he finally swallowed the rest of it. Not only did Kaale entertain them, but the fishermen were impressed.
From a distance they could see a seal hauled out at tracks. They headed over and found RG28 Lefty alone and snoozing. He was paid a visit by a lady walking her dog and this is one of those times when the woman did not see the seal. Lefty scurried to the waters edge, and the woman was very apologetic. Turns out all worked out Lefty stayed put.
Team R&B see another seal coming in. RN14 Kalani came right in and scooted up to Lefty who barked
at him. Kalani moved up and the two boys settled in for the day. They also got to see the dolphins out and about having a good time as dolphins always seem to have. While watching for whales and dolphins there was another seal coming in. It was R407 Kawika, he approached cautiously looking to RN14 Kalani. Kalani wasn't having it and a fight broke out and the two boys Kawika and Kalani left shore and out by the surfers. The surfers kept watch and gave the seals room to argue. Team R&B called the hotline to report. They stayed until they lost sight of Kalani and Kawika.
Team R&B went to check on the stickfish eating machine Kaale who had hauled out not to far from the outfall. There were two seals Kaale RH32 and Kekoa Alii RK72. The area has a new camp set up with lots of new faces, Team R&B didn't stay long.
Team R&B headed over to KoOlina to check and it was crazy with people and a couple of seals. R1KM was on shore in the middle of the tourist. She was moving about and kids were in front of her. Team R&B asked them to move away and to stay behind the signs. It was frustrating and there were too many people pushing the limits. A volunteer had been on site but left for another section. Turns out the lovely Aukai RL12 was at another lagoon. There was no signs when they first saw her, but the security folks went looking.
Much to their surprise and happiness RW22 Kolohe was in paradise cove and no signs. Thankfully a
little later a volunteer arrived and so did the signs.Lastly Team R&B happen to be passing an area and spotted two seals on the beach. They went to check and one of them was RW02 PvKauai and the other took some time to ID. The seal had tags but hidden and its coat was brown in color and no real markers. After a bit the seal showed its tags and there was RH36 Kawena! Good to see her since that hadn't seen her in a while.
