03/10/2021 Wednesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley and Team R&B💕. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

It was a slow day for Team R&B and they hung out at Tracks forever. They went and checked other spots and came up empty. Then they spotted a seal hauling in at tracks so they headed back. There were people already gathering to get their photo ops.  Team R&B called the hotline and eventually a volunteer arrived. They ID'd Kaale RH32 as the seal and just like that he suddenly departed and they never saw him for the rest of the day. The volunteer had been there for about 20 minutes when he left.

Team R&B headed to another west side location. Its a shame this area has become a large camp and

doesn't always feel safe. They made a very quick check and found Kala RH76 at the inlet. She was resting and hopefully will be undisturbed. There are times when you just have to notice the simple beauty around us, Team R&B got to see this beautiful butterfly.

They decided to take a ride out to paradise cove and checked in with some friends. They were delighted to find RW22 Kolohe on the rocks of the lagoon. He was snoozing and they could see his snout still was pink from his wounds.  People were out and about chasing the poor turtles. Seems like the same old story just different day. They called the hotline.

Team R&B made one last stop to look around, they studied the area and finally they spotted a seal. It was hard to get an ID because she was so hidden in the rocks. But after persistence and patience they are IDing her as RL42. They see a scar from a previous shark bite from a few years ago on her head. While on site they got to see the whales.
