It has become a tradition that days off are days you get more calls....I'm also convinced HMSeals have that calendar in them.
Remember, way back when Irma and Kermit in Waikiki on Xmas Eve, New Years, Rocky at Diamond Head, Honey Girl at Kualoa Point, KC, Ewa Girl , Lona would pop up wherever and in the oddest place. By now we covered the island and know all the spots. (not to mention Chester who hauled out New Years Day, stayed for a couple of week then moved to Kalama Beach Park on MLK weekend LOL)
Today was no exception, Kimo went down to surf and less then 5 minutes he was back with a: "There's a big seal in front". Stop what I was doing get the camera and go.
RG40 Holokai was hauled out at our doorstep, has I walked around to confirm his ID I look down the beach and see 2 big seals. 5 minutes turned into nearly 2 hours in the sun.
RK36 Kauai Kolohe and RG28 Lefty were there side by side. Lefty was grumpy and vocal. KKolohe just turned around barked once and moved further up the beach. The three spent the day here.
I didn't have to go to the point but got word from Lindsay that we have 50 LAAL chicks !! and all are doing great. Naupakas over the years have grown a lot, kids are wandering around already and hiding really well in the bushes or are out in the middle of the fields.
We spent the afternoon in the garden whale watching - wat a show. During the week despite the rains, we saw several travelling pods. Yesterday Tammy, Dave & I saw a Kolea in its tuxedo already. More soon - Be Safe
