03/09/2021 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕.

This morning on the west side was cold, crisp and raining and they still headed out looking for seals. At the outfall, there were no fishermen, no boats, no fish, just one turtle swimming by itself.  They then spotted RN14 Kalani and as soon as they got the ID he left the outfall and headed for tracks.  They hurried over and found Lefty RG28 on shore. Then here come Kalani RN14 and Lefty was not having it. The boys got into it, there was lots of slapping, barking and whooping at each other for almost an hour. Exciting to watch the boys and seeing the dynamics between them. Neither one would give up, they probably exhausted themselves when they ended up falling a sleep. Team R&B called the hotline.

Team R&B left the site to run and errand and returned to find both seal still there and okay. Except

there was a red suzuki jeep driving on the shore line. Team R&B called the hotline again. They see a volunteer on the beach and the jeep stops, but most importantly the seals were fine.

Team R&B headed over to another beach and there was critter just hauling up on the rocks. They could see the tag RH36, its Kawena!  She hauled up right in front of the camps, so Team R&B didn't stay. They did return later in the afternoon and saw Kekoa RK72 hauled up next to her. At least now she had company and a protector.

Final stop at another west side location they discovered on seal up on the rocks. It was R3CX Nalu very brown and very dry.
