Today's dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.
Team R&B had a quiet seal day, but that doesn't mean it wasn't crazy. The beaches were insane, packed with people, tents, and boats. They eventually found one seal, RL70 Leina. She was alone on lower rocks snoozing the day away.
At another west side location they found a lone seal R3CX Nalu. He was on the rocks snoozing alone. (Too bad Nalu and Leina weren't at the same location, they could have been alone together).
As far as seals they only had the two critters. But they witnessed a rescue. Two women were on paddle boards and got into trouble. A fisherman on his board was able to help until the Life Guards could get out there on a jet ski as well as paddling out. Whew! Huge kudos for Ocean Safety !
Marilyn on the other hand had a busy day. She did Ka'ena Point with Lesley and Diane this morning. They had a total of four seals at the point. When Marilyn got back she went to view Rabbit Island for an hour late afternoon. There were seven seals on island today!
Behind the waterfront rocks Lanikai side of LPB there was Seal#1. Juvenile to subadult size and newish coat. The critter never showed its belly or rear flippers. Seal#2 was on LPB, adult size with darker coat and two tags.
In the middle cliff area were two seals hanging out together. Seal#3, larger juvenile size, two tags and a grayish belly. Seal#4, juvenile in size, darker yellow male belly and no tags. Likely to be a 2020 kids. There may be an applied bleach in front of the rear flippers, which could make this N3.
Near the 3BS was where mom RF34 Pua and her pup P01. For most of Marilyn's time the pup was
mostly hidden behind mom. Finally the pup came into view and immediately went into snooze mode.On the rock flats behind SRI was a seal ID'd as RK37 because of her natural bleach neat the lower left rear side. Juvenile to subadult size, lighter female belly and two tags.
