2/6/2018 Monk Seal Dailies (part 1) Ipo RI37, Right Spot R016, Kekoa RK72, Kalani RN14, PvKauai RW02, Benny RE74, Buster RV08

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Lesley, Gayle and posse pal Vicki.  Lesley's Ka'ena Point update is part 2 of monk seal dailies.

Posse pal Vicki got lucky today, she was out and about and came across this bathing beauty in Hauula. We haven't seen or heard from RI37 Ipo in a while so it's nice to see her. Then again as Vicki noted she might have had one too many.

Gayle hung out once again with R016 Right Spot. Tracy and volunteer was on site checking up on the ole gal. Gayle had an opportunity to chat with a visiting couple from Canada who were thrilled to see a seal. She left Right Spot snoozing at 19:00.

Team Billand found three critters snoozing at a Leeward Beach today. They would be ID'd as Kekoa Alii RK72, Kalani RN14 together side by side snoozing, and PvKauai RW02 off on his own. They were all there on their last check.

While checking out other areas they came across Benny RE74 at Electric Beach. He was on the sand close to the waters edge, although wallows showed he had been further up.

Team Billand was on their way home when they got a call so they head back to Plains and found
Buster RV08.  A cabin helper told them he came in and the guards put up the zone right away and advised folks to keep away. They stayed until 4 pm.  One of the cabin folks shared a couple of photos from yesterday of Buster and people who were right up next to him. Upsetting to say the least, but ignorant to have such a small child so close to a large wild animal. The lifeguards DID get them all to back away and was upset with them for being so close.  Thank you lifeguards !
RI37 Ipo maybe had a little too much to drink

We also came across Fat Female RL42 at a Westside spot. She was up on shore, chillin.
Tag was nicely displayed. Hadnt seen her here for along time. On way back she was still there, now closer to the waters edge cooling off.
