2/4/2018 Monk Seal Dailies (part 2) Lesley's Ka'ena Point Update

This morning after checking the beaches her in front I met up with Jaime & Tim. Tim stayed at Hidden Beach and we headed out to the point.
Upon arrival Jaime saw an albatross land near "CHICKY's" nest. Perfect timing we were able to see the exchange of adults over the nest, we observed from a safe distance not to disrupt the birds. Saw some grooming but no feeding. This week approximately 50% of the Albatross eggs hatched.
At the point, we found R3CU and RR70 "Rip" on Back Beach and RG40 "Holokai" swimming in the Main Pool. We looked for other seals, but didn't find any. Tide was high.
We did some outreach and then did the loop of the NARS area.
The sky was heavy, the air was still but it didn't rain on us.
