11/17/2022 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team T&D and Team R&B💕

Team T&D hiked out to Ka'ena Point today. Their first find was RL98 Lina at 10 minute beach.
They saw lots of shearwater chicks outside their burrows.  They also saw a lot more Laysan Albatross, some pairing up already.
The only other seal they found today was Ka'ena RO40 at the main beach.  The waves were big and beautiful!

Team R&B started their day checking on their boy Kaale RH32.  Thankfully the beach wasn't as crazy as the last few days, at least for the time they were there.
Kaale was snoozing right up at the pohinahina bushes.
They noticed from afar, another seal coming towards Kaale along the water. Initially they though it was small but as it got closer, they could see it was an adult. They could not make an ID and the seal just kept swimming towards Nanakuli.

Team R&B wad getting messages and calls of a seal at KoOlina. They were able to finally head over to check. When they arrived they were astounded by how many people were everywhere. There were signs up but no one was getting the message to keep their distance.
They had to scold two young kids going up close and personal to the seal, who was RG28 Lefty. They tried waving them away, as well as flagging a lady who was sitting on the rocks close to Lefty.
They made adjustments to the signs and got almost everyone out of the area and behind the signs.  In spite of the insanity they stuck around and met a really nice veterinarian from the mainland. They were so excited to see the sale, and Team R&B was happy to talk story. It was especially rewarding after dealing with so many people being disrespectful.
The woman even helped to observe Lefty's right side of his mouth. He seems fine, no blood today and no sign of hooks or a line.   Team R&B left 11:15, they were hoping a volunteer would arrive.

Next they headed over to Kahe and spotted a large seal on the rocks. The tide was rough and high waves slapping at the rocks making it difficult to see. But after a few minutes they ID'd KG54 Huakai the awesome female from Kure Atoll.

At another west side location they saw one seal in a pond. It took them a bit but they finally ID'd RH76 Kala. She was snoozing partially submerged in the pond.
