Tammy hiked out solo today to Ka'ena Point and met up with Lesley. They both saw the same seals. Kami RL74 was at 10 minute beach. Then there were the molting boys at Lymans Beach. PvKauai RW02 and Squinty R330 are near each other molting away, adding a stinky aroma to the beach. They did wait out at the point for a couple of hours hoping for another seal, but no luck today.
Team R&B started their day spending a few hours at the outfall. Theyfinally spotted a green seal foraging near the outer area of the outfall. They waited for another hour but the seal never hauled out. The seal was reported as a Unknown Adult.
Next the found Kekoa Alii RK72 hauled out at a near by location.
At another west side location there was a woman waving them down. They didn't recognize her but she kept pointing at something. They went over and she was pointing at a seal. The seal was RL70 Leina. The woman asked if they were NOAA because they are out there everyday. Team R&B explained they keep track of the seals, make sure there are no hooks or fishing lines and then report the information to NOAA.
Team R&B made the hike out to Ka'ena West and only found one seal. It was RG28 Lefty out there on his own.
