11/09/2022 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:10 to 3:10 and there were four seals during her observation.
Among the waterfront rocks down from the 1BS was a Subadult Female (SF 1): subadult size, gray female belly and unsure about tags.
Between middle cliff and 3BS behind waterfront rocks was another Subadult Female (SF 2): subadult to adult size, light female belly and at least one tag was visible.
Between 3BS and SRI was a Juvenile Male (JM): juvenile size, tan male belly, older coat with lots of green around the eyes and two red tags. This is likely 7AF that was in the same location as yesterday. Marilyn did not see his N2 applied bleach today.
At SRI was an Unknown Subadult (US): subadult size, new coat, lighter ventral area, but unknown gender and did not get a good look at rear flippers.

Arriving at their first stop they saw close to 12 Lifeguards speeding by on jet-skis very impressive!
When they got to the beach there were two seals and signs were posted. However there were no volunteers that they saw. Team R&B stayed for a bit and asked one lady not to disturb the seals by making noises at them. Thankfully she cooperated.
On left rock was RK72 Kekoa Alii and to his right was RN14 Kalani. Both boys were in snooze mode. They were told that before they got there someone had walked out to the seals and one of them gave out a Huge Bellow at the person. Good for the seals!

They went to check on Kaale early but they were disappointed when he wasn't there. They returned later and still no Kaale, so they waited around for a bit. Then to their delight he came hauling up on shore. He looks to be about 25% into his molt on day 8.  Once again people in area had to go over to him and check him out and shortly after he was gone again, so Team R&B left.
They heard from a friend later in the afternoon that he was back, seems the boy is restless.

At another west side location they found Nalu R3CX. He was hidden in the small hole fast asleep. They were lucky to get a shot of his tag to make a positive ID.

Their next stop they found Miss Kala RH76, alone and looking kind of fat. She was on the rocks snoozing peacefully.
To the right front they spotted a seal snoozing. It was difficult to ID
due to the glaring sunlight. But finally she showed her tag, it was RL70 Leina.

Lastly as they were driving along the coast they caught a glimpse of a seal on the rocks. They made the stop and there was RP30 Puka alone and resting. He was sweet enough to show his one P30 tag. Good thing, in that it was late afternoon sun and hard to see anything.
