11/16/2022 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Team R&B found RH32 Kaale at his usual spot high up by the bushes. They immediately called the hotline to let them with todays high surf there would be lots of people out.  Unfortunately no one came. As they watched Kaale a man appeared, walked up to Kaale, taking cell phone shots. He was very close and Kaale was agitated.  When the guy finally left, shortly after Kaale took off.
Their next stop at the bay they found the lovely Miss Kala RH76. She was enjoying her siesta, looking as though she has put on some weight.
Looking around they spotted RG28 Lefty snoozing but alert. There were two homeless guys sitting on the rocks.  Team R&B noticed the right corner of Lefty's mouth was smeared with blood. They stay with him for two hours to observe his behavior. There were no hooks, no lines were visible. He was acting normal, scratching, stretching and flipping over.  No signs of thrashing or discomfort.

Team R&B decided to make the Ka'ena West trek. They saw a young seal in the rocks, pretty much hidden  All they saw was a tag with the #1. They determined it was Kai RM31.
Lastly out at the point hidden in the rocks was RQ24 Mauna. I have to say these little ones know how to keep themselves hidden.

Added bonus was watching a film crew off shore, old canoes, old costumes.... this is the movie Jason Momoa is in.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:15 to 3:15 and there were SIX
seals on island during her observations.
Together on the Lanikai side of LPB were:
Molting Adult: adult size, about 95% molted, did not see tags and gender is unknown.
Near the M/A was an Adult Male #1: adult size, old coat, male belly, unsure about tags. A/M 1 appears to have started to molt on its upper chest area (5% molt).

About 30 feet away from the M/A and A/M 1 was Adult Male#2: adult to subadult size, yellowish brown male belly and two red tags.

A short distance away from A/M 2 was a Subadult Male: subadult size, medium gray male belly, and two red tags.

Near 1BS was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, light gray female belly and at least two red tags. This could be RQ44 but Marilyn just wasn't sure.

Between 3BS and SRI was a molting Juvenile Male: juvenile size, light male belly, about 55% molted and two red tags. The entire ventral side seems molted and there is some new fur on the seal's side. Most of the dorsal surface was old fur.
