Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:40 to 2:30 and there was one seal and a pair of Masked Boobies on island today.
When she first started viewing she didn't see any seals. Then at 1:17 and she became aware of a seal hauled out near 1BS. She is reporting it as an Unknown Subadult.
U/S: smaller subadult size, newer coat, light belly and two tags. Marilyn could not decide its gender, some photos looked to be female and other looked male. The heavy overcast lighting did not help.
There was a pair of Masked Boobies on the windward ridge of the island. It will be interesting to see if they raise a chick this year.
Team R&B first find today was after they arrived to tracks and saw a seal from afar. They headed over to get an ID and there on shore was Kaale RH32, alone and snoozing.
At their next stop they came up on two seals snoozing on the rocks. They were apart from each other and there were people around as well. Luckily the folks left and they were able to get the IDs they needed. There in front was Kala RH76 snoozing.
To the right was the handsome Nalu R3CX, moving about with the big waves pushing him off the rocks and into the water. He has just hauled up in a different spot and went back to snooze mode.
Team R&B decided to make the Kaena West trek. They spotted a huge turtle on shore from a distance.
Out on the hike they only found one seal. There was RM31 Kai snoozing to the right of the rocks.
Luckily on the hike out they discovered another seal. There snoozing in a little pond, it was RG28 Lefty.
