Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:20 to 1:30 and there was only one seal on island today.
About 30 feet Makapuu side of the 3BS was a subadult female S/F: subadult size, yellowish female belly with some green and two tags. Marilyn did not see a left side nb that would have identified her as RK37.
Team R&B started out nice and early at a west side site. There wasR3CU on the rocks snoozing. It appeared he had just arrived. At this time he was the only one in the area.
At the outfall they spotted a couple of seals, one was R3CX Nalu. He was in and out of the outfall. While he was in the outfall Nalu swam around fast and furious, then bellowed right in front of all the fisherman. Then he disappeared and not seen again.
At a nearby location they found RH32 Kaale snoozing on the rocks alone. They couldn't get down to the area because of the dogs in the area.
Team R&B hadn't heard from anyone about secrets, so they decided to check it out on their own. As they arrived there are tourist close to a monk seal that just hauled out (talk about timing). There was Lefty RG28 attempting to land.
They quickly put up three signs and started educating people. Lefty hauled out but then around 11 am he just took off. Didn't seem to be a reason for the quick exit just left.
As a side note, remember Team R&B posted a swan with an egg? Well the egg is now a chick.
They headed back to west side location and now there was Pe'ekai RP84 in a different spot than usual. Then disaster hit their memory chip wasn't in the camera, so back to the car but when they returned Pe'ekai was gone.
They saw RW02 PvKauai foraging and he was in a classic hippo position in the shallows. Sadly the battery died on the camera, so they headed home for a charge. (bummer).
Heading back out again they made a stop at the cliff and found RL98 Lina. Her applied bleach N34 was visible!
They spotted RL42 Leia from a distance so they made the trek to check. She was in a sound sleep with three signs up. Good to see.
Last critter of the day was RL20 Kalua alone and snoozing in peace. He was in a different than usual spot. Which was very good, because there were people running on the rocks along with a big dog.
