03/14/2022 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.

Marilyn checked a few of the east side locations. She spotted a seal about 10:50 am swimming in the waters. She was able to get a couple of photos. They show a small nb on the seal's head, Marilyn is convinced this was RK96 Kaiwi.
Next stop she actually found Kaiwi hauled out. The ID was made on her nb on her head, small line scar on her left neck area and her adult size.

Marilyn bumped into Gayle who mentioned RK24 was in the area.  Marilyn decided to go check Rabbit
Island first between 12:50 to 1:50 and there were no seals.
On her way home she made a stop to check on the site. As luck would have it there was RK24 Wawamalu/Bruno right in the middle of where there were swimmers. He was cordoned off and there was a volunteer providing outreach. It seemed as though most people were being respectful.

Team R&B was out by the outfall and after studying the water for some time they spotted two seals foraging.  They ID'd the two seals as Kaale RH32 and R3CU.

Team R&B got a couple of calls of two seals out at a busy beach. They went to one area where a seal attempted to haul in, but there was too much going on shore.
At one other close by shoreline they found RN14 Kalani already on the reef to the right. They put signs out and called the hotline. They spent time educating people and waited for a volunteer.
A second seal came in and landed on the rocks. They ID'd Kekoa Alii RK72.
RN14 Kalani started sneezing over and over, Kekoa got excited and immediately dashed into the water. At the same time Kalani got into the water and met up with Kekoa, they had a brief fight then swam around the cove for a while.  A volunteer arrived.
By 10:30 both seals took off toward a westly direction and it looked like they turned into another beach.
The volunteer and Rob went to check. Kalani RN14 had landed on the rocks and volunteer was on site.
Meanwhile Kekoa Alii returned and hauled up on the rocks again. Signs were put back out again, and the hotline was called.  Volunteer eventually returned and Team R&B left the area for the day.

At another west side location they found a seal snoozing left high rocks. It took them a while to make the ID but eventually they were able to ID PvKauai RW02.
To the right there was a very well hidden Pe'ekai RP84. This little one sure knows how to hide himself.

At another west side site they actually had to go through security to get into the area where two seals were snoozing on shore. They first ID'd RG28 Lefty, they were really surprised to see him here.

Next to Lefty was a small male, no tags, cc scar on chest and scar on right side of face. They could not ID this little one so he was reported as an unknown juvenile male.
Last stop before calling it a day they saw two seal on land. It took them awhile studying both of them to come up with an ID. The first was the lovely RL98 Lina, ID with her healing cookie scar.
The other female took much longer because of her position. Finally they were able to ID RL42 Leia.
