In yesterdays news department, posse pal Amy spent time watching over RN14 Kalani. Yesterday Team R&B found Kalani RN14 haul out in the morning. Amy was able to help out just after 11 so R&B could move on to the next site. She spoke to hotline and asked if there were any one available for the west side. They responded about 45 minutes later. Amy took over at 2 om and the tourist activity picked up. Amy did lots of education about the seal, what the signs mean and respecting the area to give the seal space. RN14 hauled out about 10:30 and left at 7:20 pm a nice 9 hour nap.
Team R&B started out at the outfall seeing lots of splashing going on. They knew there were multiple seals but making the IDs was going to be difficult. After taking the time and studying them they managed to ID Benny RE74, a seal with a green snout was Kekoa Alii RK72 and unidentified unknowns U/Us.
All the seal were fighting/playing and moving around a lot.
At another site they saw RL08 with RH32 Kaale on shore. They noticed that R413 Makamae was not there. They caught up with a man who had taken a picture of five seals hauled out earlier.
Off to another west side location they found RL20 Kalua on high rocks snoozing. Waves hit him and that was enough for him, he took off.
RP84 Pe'ekai was also on high rocks snoozing. When the waves hit him, he dove into the water and moved on to the next rocks formation.
Lastly somewhere in that mix was good ole' Lefty RG28.
