November 19, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

Team Billand went to check on Benny RE74 at 7 am and he was in the same location once again.  Seems a little odd for da Benny to be staying put, but I know Team Billand is enjoying his company everyday. They noted some "marks" on his belly, but it's unclear what they are from.
Team Billand contacted Melina and then they all spent time watching him while he was snoozing.
Barb noticed another seal across the way on shore, so she walked around to that area and passing the construction site where she found RH92 Nalani.
She was resting comfortably and Barb let Melina know about her. RH92 is looking good without any new marks or scars.

Team Billand headed over to Ko'Olina and there was a volunteer on the rocks looking over. Team Billand went to check and there was a seal hanging out floating.  There was big surf but not affecting the seal. Barb could see cookie scar on shoulder area and small bleach mark on her right head, with the scar on the head.
They were able to positively ID Pohaku RO28, she was in the right corner of the lagoon and then went over to the other end. Barb and volunteer ran over to watch.  Pohaku then moved out of the corner where there were swimmers. They called out to the people that Pohaku was nearing the shore. Pohaku was at the end of the rocks and then she was gone. Team Billand checked other beaches nearby but they did not see her again.

Team Billand made their way to another west side location and spotted a beautiful seal with lots of scratches. They got lucky and saw the tag RH76, it's Kala !!! She fought to keep herself up on midrocks, and then here comes Kekoa Alii RK72.
He came slithering in and took a look at Kala, who was struggling to stay on the rocks, but the waves got the best of her and away she went.
Kekoa kept coming up on lower rocks to stay, in that he was there all day. Finally he is molting on his chest and neck area.

At noon when they returned, Team Billand found Kala RH76 back on the rocks and she was alone and dry. Kekoa was on lower rocks resting comfortably.
And now there were three all in their own spaces. Something spooked Kala who dived into the water, swam to upper rocks, galumphed close to Kekoa. Here comes RIP RR70 checking her out along with Kekoa, but they were in snooze mode.
RIP is sporting his new coat and looking quite large and handseome.
All three seal remained when Team Billand left.
