November 10, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Marilyn.

Marilyn spent her day on the east side today. Her first find RK24 Wawamalu/Bruno was seen just before 10 am. He was ID'd by his juvenile size and K25 tag. When Marilyn returned in the afternoon he was still in the cove. No one was bothering him, despite the tourist in the area.

Then Marilyn found R016 Right Spot (which I had heard she might be back in the neighborhood) She was ID'd by her old coat, female belly, upper chest scar and NB on her right side, and the notch in her rear flipper. She is looking very green and thin, but most likely normal since she weaned a pup about 2 weeks ago on Molokai. Hope she gets some rest and fills her belly.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island for about 2 hours from noon til close to 2. There were two critters on the island today.
When she arrived a seal was hauling out near the 3BS and she was able to ID RK37 by her juvenile size, small NB on her left posterior side, female belly and two tags.
Near the SRI an unknown female, juvenile to sub-adult size, female belly and 2 tags. There may have been a partial bleach on the left side, but it could have been shading.

Team Billand found da Benny RE74 once again on the same west side beach by some houses.  Benny was very close to the house snoozing, and Team Billand had a chance to talk with a morning walker. This woman has been fascinated by Benny's visit and sees' him on her morning walks.
There was filming going on by the life guard stand, looks like for Magnum, hmmm wonder if Benny will make an appearance?  ( this is just my commentary there is no information of any seals being filmed).
Hopefully Benny will move on now that he's finished his molt and head off to a less populated area.

Team Billand's only other find today was Kekoa RK72 foraging. At 10 am they were checking an area and looking out into the water, there was a seal off shore. Seal was doing 6 minute dives, they waited for him to land but it never happened, so they left.

Despite their checking all the usual sites and the Ka'ena West Trek Team Billand did not find any other critters today.
