Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:30 to 2:15 pm and there were six seals seen during that time.
Initially out on the rock flats on LPB was weaner PO8 alone. He entered the water at 12:52 pm. Then about an hours later he hauled out again and moved up close to the cliff and appeared to snooze.
In the middle of LPB was apparently weaned (for the second time) PO3 Kaiolohia/Manapua was alone. He moved down the beach and entered the water at 1:56 pm. Ten minutes later PO3 showed up offshore of RL12 and RN04.
On the 1BS side of LPB were two seals:
RL12 Aukai: adult size, female belly, two red tags and N13 applied bleach.
RN04 Kainoa: adult size, dark coat, male belly, at least one red tag, applied N4 bleach on his rear left side.
When PO3 showed up on the shoreline, Kainoa charged and vocalized at the pup. Then Kainoa movedup and around RL12 where he continued to vocalize towards the water line. Later Kainoa escorted Aukai into the water where they continued to "argue" with each other.
Not far from the 3BS was the molting Adult Female: adult size, 85% molted with a totally clean ventral and partially molted dorsal, two red tags and female belly. Marilyn's guess is the female is RK38, but can not confirm.
Near SRI was RK37 Huia who is fully molted, gray female belly, two red tags and nb on lower left side.
Team R&B were surprised and over joyed when they found RH48 Lei Ola at Pokai. She was alone on the rocks resting looking beautiful in her new coat.
The Chanters arrived so Team R&B pointed to Lei Ola, they saw her and thought it was cool. They kept the chant "low" out of respect for her and Team R&B were grateful.
They met up with Hawaiian Activist Nani Peterson. They told her all about Lei Ola and Kala and what happened to their first pups. She was both shocked and moved. She was grateful for the background on these two seals.
At another west side location they found R416 Makalii. He was alone resting on high rocks. The waveswere getting to him, but he stayed.
They also captured a great photo of an Iwa Bird.
Heading over to Kahe they found RL20 Kalu on the rocks which is rare. He usually is in the outfall stealing fish but not today, he was alone and resting. He is getting green. They heard he had a hook but they did not see anything. He was resting peacefully most likely with a full belly.
Last stop at the cliffs they spotted RP30 Puka. He was alone on the rocks, in a different spot than he where he use to frequent when he was younger. They suspect he is getting ready to molt, they did not see his belly so they don't know if he started.
The dolphins were out and about. But finally they came across a real ass and managed to get picture.
