12/09/2022 Friday's Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:05 to 1:30 and there were four seals during her observations.
Just to give you an idea of the wind speeds, the third blue sign 3BS had blown over in the last couple of days. Seems erosion of the posts contributed as well.
When Marilyn arrived there were three seals down around the 1BS. The three seals are:
Adult Female: adult size, yellowish tan female belly and two red tags.
Adult Male: adult size, dark coat and dark male belly, tags unknown.
Unknown Juvenile: juvenile to small subadult size, lighter ventral but could not determine gender, unknown if there were tags.
At about 12:45, a fourth seal hauled out to LPB on the 1BS. Seal was reported as an Unknown Adult.
U/A: adult size, two red tags, unknown gender.

Team R&B got a call this morning about three seals on shore. So they headed out and found three males on shore by the rocks. The trio was RK72 Kekoa Alii, RG28 Lefty, and R3CX Nalu.
A volunteer was on site (yea!) There were signs up with ropes.
While they were watching over the three boys, another seal hauled in. He came in fast going to the rocks turns around and settles in. (almost like that spot had his name on it). It was Kaale RH32, looking handsome and showing off his unique personality.

While watching over the four boyz, RK72, RG28, R3CX and now RH32, they spot another seal coming in slowly.  It was Aukai RL12, who either saw, smelled or just knew the boys were there and did not stick around. She slithered away, but our boy Kaale spotted her and in less than 60 seconds he was in the water with her. There was some arguing and then they both swam away towards paradise cove.

Team R&B headed over to PC and sure enough Kaale and Aukai ended up coming in. They called the hotline. There were some signs they adjusted. They waited until noon for a volunteer. They were told they were coming so they left.

They saw a seal on shore at tracks. They tried to get an ID from a far, but then five people arrived and the seal started to bark at them. They hurried over but by that time the people were gone. It really gets tiring dealing with so many ignorant people.  They did not get an ID and the seal was reported as an unidentified Male
