Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from noon to 2 pm and there were six seals on island today.
About 50 ft Lanikai side od the 1BS was an U/U: subadult to adult size and two tags. Marilyn never saw the ventral side, and this seal never changed position enough to give her any other information.
Just Makkapuu side of the 1BS was U/J #1: juvenile size, light belly, unsure of gender and not sure about tags.
Initially Makapuu side of U/J#1 was A/M #1: adult size, newer coat, gray male belly, not sure about tags. He later moved around U/J#1 and settled at the berm.
Makapuu side of the 3BS were three seals:
A/M #2: adult size, old coat, brown male belly and no visible tags. This seal may be beginning to molt on the upper chest area. Time will tell in the next few days.
U/J #2: juvenile to subadult size, light ventral area (probably male), not sure about tags.
A/M #3 : subadult to adult size, grayish yellow male belly, not sure about tags.
Security at the pier told Marilyn that soon after she left yesterday there were two smaller seals playing around marker 5 between the pier and beach park. Of course this happens when Marilyn isn't there to see it.
Team R&B began their day early with RL20 stealing fish from the fishers. He was on the outside of the jetty. He is a fast fat little dude. They heard the fishers yelling out "You Bugga, Dam it" One of the fishers they have got close to told them it's just part of the game.
Checking another west side location, once again they found RW02 PvKauai. He was back on the rocks, chilling out on his own today.
After leaving RW02 they arrived at another west side site and saw two seals were hauled out on the rocks. There was RG28 Lefty and RN14 Kalani. Both of them settled down resting in the chilly air.
While watching one of the regulars in the area with all her dogs, they saw a seal swim by, it was RH32 Kaale. He landed on the rocks with Lefty and Kalani, and being the butthead he is there were words between them. Eventually the three settled down and rested.
At noon, RN14 Kalani took off heading west, they did not see him for the rest of the day.
Team R&B headed to the bay, as they approached the area they spotted a fat seal that turned out to be R3CX Nalu. He was on the rocks snoozing alone. Three teens came by, picked up some rocks. They saw Team R&B with a camera pointing at them, they released the rocks and left. (hmmmm).
Looking at Nalu they could see the shark bite, with lots of flies on it. He kept scratching the area to chase the flies off, other than being annoyed he seems fine.
They also saw the kid RL20 still out there foraging.
Team R&B's last find of the day RL42 Leia. She was alone and snuggled in the rocks snoozing. Her tag and cookie scar were visible. AND she is fat !!!!
